As the only owner of my single-family homebuilder company I am responsible for all phases of “project Coordination”. When I first started the Corporation in 1986 I bought Veterans Administration foreclosures, rehabilitated them and sold them. I then did commercial and residential land development. I have completed stick and modular construction projects. For the last 4-5 years I have built new construction homes. As well as hiring the needed 10 – 14 sub-contractors per building, I must deal with the town, county and state officials. In my opinion communication skills are perhaps my strongest point and the potentially weakest link in any project. I complete and coordinate all paperwork needed for the project. This can be extensive and includes everything from architectural drawings to engineering site plan, County soil conservation work, finish grade, water lines, permits, inspections, sub contractor sequencing and the list goes on and on. In fact, I would have to say very few people outside of the business understand the complexity of this work.
