1                                                 The student will use Internet Explorer to                                                         locate web sites using searches and URL's.

1.  The student will open Internet Explorer and close IE.

2.  The Teacher will define:

URL: uniform resource locator- a unique string of text that identifies the location of a web page on the WWW.

Browser: Netscape Navigator, Internet Explorer- Computer program that enables users to view and interact with Web sites on the WWW.  Web Browser offer easy to use point and click environment for quickly accessing information on the Web.

Finds and displays information and websites on the internet.

WWW: World Wide Web a vast series of electronic documents called Web pages or Web documents that are linked together over the Internet.

Internet a collection of Networks that connect computers all over the world together using phone lines, coaxial cables, fiber optics cables, satellites and other telecommunications media.

ISP- Internet Service Provider.                              

Search Engines: Yahoo, et - A Web site that uses entries in a search form to scan for relevant information stored in an index of the web.

3.  The student practice the following "searches": 1 Word Search: VH1, MTV, Movies, 3 Word Searches: Italy Rome Free, Italy Venice Free, 5 Word Searches: Russia, Kiev, churches, pictures, free. 

4.  Teacher will demonstrate each button on the  "Standard" toolbar: Back, Forward, Stop, Refresh, Stop, Search, Print, Favorites/Bookmarks, et

5.  The student will demonstrate use of the Toolbar:  File, Edit, View, Favorites, Tools (home page set up), Help  

A.  The student will locate and download IE or Netscape Navigator and then execute the exe file to load the program into the PC.-
